Transfer from Kandy to the Knuckles Mountain Range. Arrive at Riverston Grand Knuckles and check in. After lunch, attend an introduction lecture on the Knuckles ecosystem to understand the unique biodiversity and conservation importance of this region. Following tea, embark on your first herping session from late afternoon through the evening, exploring the diverse habitats under expert guidance.
Start your day with breakfast before heading out for the morning herping session, focusing on diurnal species activity. After lunch, continue with an extended evening herping session that extends well into the night, providing opportunities to observe both crepuscular and nocturnal species in their natural habitats.
After breakfast, check out and depart from Riverston Grand Knuckles. Transfer back to Kandy, concluding your herping expedition in the Knuckles Mountain Range.
The Knuckles Mountain Range is a highly protected forest area. According to the Sri Lanka Wildlife Act: Carrying collection bags, L hooks, catcher sticks, gloves, or any equipment related to specimen collection is not allowed. Collecting or keeping any part of flora or fauna is strictly prohibited. All observations and photography must be done in situ. Ethical wildlife photography practices must be followed at all times. Please do not bring any equipment related to sample collection.
